Thanks, NME...we think.

Three Feet High and Rising -- De La Soul

Just read this oral history on this album. I know this record gets mentioned all the time, but the article reminds me of how incredible this record is.

Bing Ji LIng -- New Album

Daniel and I (as Embassy Sound Productions (ESP)) just finished a record with our estimable vocalist/guitarist/multi-instrumentalist, Quinn Luke aka Bing Ji Ling. It's an acid-rock soul record that we're really proud of. Patrick Wood is on drums and Luke O'Malley handles all of the bass and most of the guitar. We're just starting to figure out how we're going to release it.

The Thomas Crown Affair -- Norman Jewison

Edited by Hal Ashby. Score by Michel Legrand. This video cut together by some youtuber.

The Landlord -- Hal Ashby

Note the subtle marketing from United Artists. This movie was filmed a neighborhood away from mine in Brooklyn. Back then, the block was filled with people who wouldn't pay rent. Now, it's millionaires with strollers.

Hal Ashby's first feature. Scored by Al Kooper. Ashby tried for Neil Young and originally he cut the movie to Sly and the Family Stone. Kooper's score, however, is incredible. Check out the amazing montage at minute 6. Also, notice Richard Nixon on the TV. All of Hashby's 70s films have nonsense on the TV. Shampoo and Being There have the most, as I remember.
